The Snowflake Shoot-Off

The PRS Provincial Matches test skills involved with positional shooting, physical and mental tests while engaging medium to long-range rifle targets within 1 shot per target. Some of the skills include wind doping, marksmanship under field conditions, non-standard shooting positions, equipment familiarity and the use of field supplied equipment.

Overview
Match Overview
1 day of shooting (+/- 4-6 hours)
8 stages
Round count: 64 rounds
Each stage will have 8 target opportunities
Stages will have 105 – 120 second par times
Target distances 100-1000 meters, most within 250-750 meters.
Targets are between 1.5 and 3 MOA
Stage props to be used on some stages
Movement within some stages
Unconventional shooting positions might be required

Scoring for all divisions: 1 point per hit
Open Division
- Minimum caliber: .22 cal
- Maximum caliber: .30 cal
- Maximum muzzle velocity: 3200fps
Tactical Division
- Allowed calibers: .223 / 5.56 or .308 / 7.62×51
- Maximum muzzle velocity: 2800fps
- Maximum bullet weight: 178grains
Classic Division
- Minimum caliber: .22 cal
- Maximum caliber: .30 cal
- Maximum muzzle velocity: 3200fps
- The rifle may only contain a maximum of 5 rounds of ammunition at any time.
- A maximum of 1 magazine (if required) may be used for the duration of the match.
- A bipod may be attached to the rifle at a position that must remain fixed for the duration of a match.
- No other stability device may be connected to the rifle in a permanent manner. ie. Tripods may be used, but not attached
Factory Division
- Minimum caliber: .22 cal
- Maximum caliber: .30 cal
- Maximum muzzle velocity: 3200fps
- A Factory Division Rifle is a non-custom, stock rifle, manufactured/assembled by a single manufacturer, in a configuration as available from that manufacturer, where the action, chassis/stock and trigger must be manufactured by, or be proprietary to that manufacturer, or be a generic part.
- 1.5lbs minimum Trigger Pull Weight.
- Magazine may not contain more than 10 rounds at the start signal.
- A suppressor or muzzle brake may be fitted.
- Allowed gunsmith modifications:
- The barrel may be replaced, as long as the replacement barrel is the same profile and length as available from the manufacturer.
- The barrel may be re-crowned and / or threaded.
- The action may be bedded to the chassis or stock.
- Allowed minor detailing is permitted by hand, including:
- Removal of factory burrs,
- Polishing,
- Painting,
- Adding of grip or protective tape.
- Prohibited Modifications:
- No permanent alterations may be made to the rifle.
- No aftermarket parts may be added to, attached, or swapped on, the rifle.
- No further gunsmith modifications or truing are permitted.

Driving on the N1 North into Touws Rivier
Continue on the N1 500m past the BP Garage in Touws Rivier.
Take the dirt road left at the Ranger’s Reserve Sign.
Continue 6.6km to Ranger’s Reserve Gate.
Turn left into Ranger’s Reserve, and follow the farm road to the range.
Driving on the N1 South into Touws Rivier
Continue on the N1 500m past the Clatex Garage just before Touws Rivier.
Take the dirt road right at the Ranger’s Reserve Sign.
Continue 6.6km to Ranger’s Reserve Gate.
Turn left into Ranger’s Reserve, and follow the farm road to the range.

Other Information
It’s generally bitterly cold this time of year. We therefore suggest you bring warm gear for the early morning.
Team Tac Driver has booked the Farmhouse for the Friday night before the match, and there are 3 additional beds available. We generally have a braai around 7/8pm and most often stay up way too late for any decent performance at the match the following day.
